“Tu jahan jahan Chalega, mera Saaya saath hoga” the voice of Lata Mangeshwar filled the Conference Hall completely. I had dimmed the lights purposefully to make it sound more divine. Tell you something; had it been any other formal corporate meeting, I might have been hanged for playing songs in the middle of an important meeting, but then a “creative presentation” has its own advantages...

“Nice song, Karan..... but where’s
the idea” Mr Chairman interrupted. “Thanks Sir, it’s one of my favourites too.
And more importantly it carries the ‘Big idea’........ What is the most basic
attribute a customer expects from his network provider? No prizes here; its the
uninterrupted network. Our new campaign will highlight and position ‘Vodatel’
as a premium network which is always with you and never fails..” I completed
the most important speech for the evening. It was silent for next couple of
minutes. I took a glass of water and tried to look convinced all throughout. What
followed was a clap from the Chairman and guess what everyone had to just
follow. “Brilliant idea, let’s have a 360 campaign on the same”, I had hit the
jackpot. “Thanks Sir, I will show you the storyboard soon” it was time to
unlock the bow.
“Well done my boy” Mr Bannerjee
slapped my butt while I was having lunch. It’s very irritating of him to do so,
though it generally means he’s happy. “Anything for you, Sir”, I raised a toast
of water. “Don’t be boring Karan. You deserve a Champaign today”. “I know Sir,
but I will skip it. I can still feel yesterday’s hangover”, it again reminded
me of Latika. “Hey Karan, what a pitch man; I am impressed” Maya gave me that
look while putting her hand on my shoulder. “Ahem, I will excuse you guys” Mr
Bannerjee was at it again. “Thanks Maya, it was a team effort though..” I was modest
this time. “That’s so sweet of you to say that” she almost hugged me. (btw Maya
is my colleague. She’s around 28, few extra pounds, nice features, claims to be
single, very moody but somehow always kind to me).
“Well if you keep encouraging me
like this, maybe few more accounts will be in” I was in mood of some fun now. “You
naughty boy... So where’s the party now. It calls for celebration” she wouldn’t
let it pass. “Hmmm....let’s plan around the weekend”
